Playing golf in Tunisia is becoming more popular as more golfers look to combine their golf while sampling all that Tunisia offers in the way of exciting beach destinations, stunning architecture and fascinating desert excursions.

More and more courses are opening as Tunisia becomes better known as an emerging destination for golfers and the town of Hammamet, in particular, offers first class facilities for anyone wishing to play golf in this fascinating country..

Golf Citrus, which first opened in September 1992 with two 18-hole Championship courses, is much more than a golf course. It is a real golfing centre, the first 45-Hole golf complex in Tunisia.

The complex consists of two different courses which will not fail to delight all golfers.

Les Oliviers, at 6106 metres is a course suitable for all levels and La Forêt, at 6066 metres, is a relatively more difficult course which will offer a challenge to low-handicap golfers.

The 9-Hole Par 28 Executive course, a Par 28, is a real school for beginners and an ideal course for golfers wishing to play 9 holes in a short space of time.

The complex also includes a series of Pitching and Putting-greens and a double driving-range with several putting, pitching and target-greens where all aspects of the game can be honed.

4 first-class hotels, The Aziza, Méditerranée, Phenicia and Sindbad, situated in the resort of Hammamet, own this magnificent complex. All residents of these hotels enjoy special preferential tariffs at Golf Citrus.

Nearby to Golf Citrus, Golf Yasmine is an excellent, highly ranked, Championship course which first opened in 1991.

Designed by golf architect Ronald Fream, the course combines large teeing areas, dramatic bunker shapes and water features galore offering some of the best golf in Tunisia. Full advantage has been taken of the surrounding terrain to provide wide fairways and contoured greens.

Th large number of different starting tees allows golfers of all abilities to enjoy the layout.

The course is fully irrigated which ensures that the tees, greens and fairways are in top condition and the extensive drainage system ensures that the course is maintained to the highest standard. The Par 72 Championship course, measures 6162 meters with four par 5`s and par 3`s. Here, correct club selection is an important factor in order to keep your score low.

The Championship course is supplemented by a Par 30 Executive course which, as the length of the holes range from 75 metres up to 180 metres, is ideal for practicing short game techniques. Also, adjacent to the courses, there is a practice putting green, chipping area and driving range. Professionals are at hand to offer first class tuition. Golf equipment is available for hire if required. The elegant clubhouse, offering excellent catering and service, coupled with the superb layout, makes Golf Yasmine one of the best courses to visit for those wishing to play golf in Tunisia.

The city of Carthage, located on the outskirts of Tunisia’s capital city, Tunis, was once the administrative capital of Roman Africa. Today, it has numerous Roman sites, including theatres, villas and baths, which can be visited by tourists. For those looking to play golf in Tunisia as well as sightseeing why not combine a visit to this ancient city with a visit to a local golf course, which also boasts a historical past.

Golf Carthage, a member of the Tunisian Golf Federation, was designed by French architect Yves Bureau in 1927 and is amongst the oldest courses in Africa. This, the first course built in Tunisia, is located 10 km from Tunis Carthage Airport, 45 minutes from Hammamet and only a few minutes from both Tunis City centre and the tourist areas of the Carthage coasts. The course occupies an area of over 30 hectares and meanders through beautiful eucalyptus trees reputed to be over 100 years old.

Consisting of 18 holes, the course has a par of 66 with a length of 4927 metres. The facilities here include a driving range, putting green, pitching area and practice bunkers to help both beginners and the more advanced players to sharpen their game. Professionals are available for one to one or group tuition. The course boasts an excellent club house with changing facilities along with a bar and restaurant with panoramic views and large terraces overlooking the 9th and 18th greens where patrons may sample the delights of the excellent Mediterranean cuisine on offer.
