The city of Carthage, located on the outskirts of Tunisia’s capital city, Tunis, was once the administrative capital of Roman Africa. Today, it has numerous Roman sites, including theatres, villas and baths, which can be visited by tourists. For those looking to play golf in Tunisia as well as sightseeing why not combine a visit to this ancient city with a visit to a local golf course, which also boasts a historical past.

Golf Carthage, a member of the Tunisian Golf Federation, was designed by French architect Yves Bureau in 1927 and is amongst the oldest courses in Africa. This, the first course built in Tunisia, is located 10 km from Tunis Carthage Airport, 45 minutes from Hammamet and only a few minutes from both Tunis City centre and the tourist areas of the Carthage coasts. The course occupies an area of over 30 hectares and meanders through beautiful eucalyptus trees reputed to be over 100 years old.

Consisting of 18 holes, the course has a par of 66 with a length of 4927 metres.The facilities here include a driving range, putting green, pitching area and practice bunkers to help both beginners and the more advanced players to sharpen their game.
