Golf Etiquette
Displaying good golf etiquette on the course enables everyone to concentrate on enjoying the game. Adherence to the rules and a few simple procedures keeps the game flowing and conflict to a minimum.
When playing a stroke the player must be sure that no one in the immediate vicinity is likely to be struck by the swinging club, flying divots, the ball etc.,that any group of players in front are well out of range and that any groups of players on adjoining fairways, tees or greens are alerted if it is seen that the ball is heading towards their direction.
Players should heed any club rules regarding the use of mobile phones on the course, dress code and must ensure that all divots are replaced, pitch marks and spike marks on the green are adequately repaired and bunkers are properly raked following the execution of bunker shots.
Slow play, which causes much aggravation, should be avoided at all times.
Lining up of putts can be carried out discretely while fellow competitors putting, enabling the player to be well prepared to take his putt immediately afterwards.
It is better to leave bags and trolleys and golf carts on the exit side of the green leading to the next tee, cards should not be marked on the putting green but preferably on route to the next teeing ground.
If it is apparent that a ball may be difficult to find during the play of a hole the players concerned should call through the following group immediately and not search for five minutes before carrying out this procedure.
