Balance and Weight Transfer Aids
A range of balance and weight transfer aids are available to get you in the correct set up position and help you when you are swinging the club and hitting balls.
The 8board Swing Aid gets you in the right position when you are actually swinging and hitting a golf ball, helping you achieve power and control, through dynamic balance, and is one of the leading examples of balance and weight transfer aids for improving the use of hips and legs. The full-swing 8board drills allow you to experience proper pivot, balance and centering skills, which help deliver the club face squarely to the ball every time. The Board also increases power and co-ordination. When balls are struck, using the 8board, the feet will swivel as they stay parallel to each other. Once off the 8board, the feet are rooted to the ground, but the hip and leg rotation learned on the 8board will greatly enhance the golf swing. Lateral movement is the biggest problem for a golfer's short game. Although you can still mis-hit when using the 8board, practice of the short game drills will reduce lateral movement and improve ball striking. The 8board is an excellent example of golf training equipment teaching proper stance, rotation and balance from backswing to follow-through.
The Power Stance Golf Trainer is a lower body training aid that teaches alignment, balance and weight transfer, proper hip rotation, and firmly posted left leg while at the same time creating flexibility. The lower body is the source of power and velocity in the golf swing.
The base and adjustable footpads of the device are square, automatically squaring the body to the target. A left foot retainer creates flexibility from the ankle to the hip, a critical component to making a full hip rotation back and through, which also helps prevent the golfer from spinning or stepping out of the stance. A right foot wedge creates balance while properly distributing weight on the inside of the thighs, and teaches proper weight transfer and prevents reverse pivot. A rotating plate assists in achieving the proper finish position on the right foot and, in making a full hip release, allowing the club to pass through on the inside. The incorporated inclined platform teaches proper weight distribution and weight transfer needed for a correct follow through.
The Power Stance is beneficial to all golfers. The simplicity of this balance and weight transfer aid allows for the teaching of successful alignment, weight transfer, hip rotation and posted left leg, while also increasing flexibility.
Another device designed to help improve weight transfer from back to front leg is The Transfer Station, which is made up of three training aids in one assembled device. A target line is aimed directly at the target, a body alignment guide assists with positioning of the ball, head and body, and the transfer divider, which is a vertical section, red on one side facing the target, and yellow on the other, slots directly in to the alignment guide. The club is placed behind the ball at address and aligned to the target. The head should be slightly behind the ball with the yellow side of the transfer divider in view. Once the back swing has begun and weight has been transferred on to the back foot the yellow side becomes in full view and remains in view after the start of the downswing and until impact. Only after impact will the colour red be seen. If red is viewed on the back swing then weight has not been transferred correctly, resulting in a reverse pivot. Balance and weight transfer aids, such as the Transfer Station, which provide immediate feedback are invaluable training aids and extremely useful when practicing golf drills.
